Types of Keys in Keyboard

As you know that Computer play a very important role in our life, we are always connected with Internet and doing various tasks. In today’s era, all the task can be perform through online platform like online education (means learning online), online banking and almost all task we can do online using computer and internet.

There are different kinds of keys in Keyboard as following:

  • Alphabet Key
  • Numerical Key
  • Function Key
  • Symbol Key
  • Cursor control Key
  • Special Key

Alphabet Key

There are total 26 Alphabet Key in the Keyboard.

A to Z are called alphabet key

Famous sequence in alphabet key is QWERTY

For typing the paragraph or letter we use this keys.

If we want to type our name then Alphabet Key is used.

Numeric  Key

There are total 10 Numeric Key in the Keyboard

0 to 9 are called numeric key

For typing the numerical figure then we use this keys.

If we want to type our mobile number or roll number then Numeric  Key is used.

Function  Key

There are total 12 Function Key in the Keyboard

F1 to F12 are called function key

For specific function, we use this keys.

If we want to rename any file then we use F2, We can use the Function key with some special key to perform certain task.

Symbol  Key

There is no separate key given for Symbol Key in the Keyboard

Symbol key is merged with numeric key

Symbol keys are !,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,(,)

For typing symbol key we have to press Shift key with any numeric key to print the above symbols.

Cursor Control  Key

There are total 8 cursor control keys in the Keyboard.

We can control the cursor on screen called cursor control key

Left, Right, Up, Down, PgUp, PgDn, Home and End are the keys that used to control the movement of cursor.

Special  Key

In the keyboard, there are some keys that is used for special purpose is called special keys.

Special Keys are following:

  • Enter Key
  • Shift Key
  • Control (Ctrl)
  • Alter (Alt)
  • Escape (Esc)
  • Back space
  • Delete Key
  • Caps Lock
  • NumLock
  • Window Key
