Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival observed on 14 April to recall and show respect for the memory of B. R. Ambedkar, who is father of the constitution of India and civil rights activist.
Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born on April 14 in 1891. It will be Ambedkar’s 130th birth anniversary on April 14, 2021.
He was a social reformer and a Dalit icon. Ambedkar struggled for equality throughout his life, hence his birthday is celebrated as ‘Equality Day‘ in India
This day is also called Bhim Jayanti. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated not just in India but all around the world.

He spoke unequivocally against the inequality, injustice and discrimination faced by the members of the dalit community.
He is considered a key architect of the constitution of India and also become the first law and justice minister of independent India. Ambedkar was master in 64 subjects and was proficient in 11 languages. Government of India Issued 125 Rupees coins in 2015 to mark the 125 Birth Anniversary in the honor of Ambedkar. Since 2015 it has been observed as an official public holiday throughout India as Ambedkar Jayanti.
As per Government of Maharashtra 14 April is observed as Knowledge Day (Dnyan Din) in the Indian state of Maharashtra in memory of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Babasaheb Ambedkar died on December 6 in 1956. He was awarded India’s highest civilian honour the Bharat Ratna in 1990.
