As you know that Computer play a very important role in our life, we are always connected with Internet and doing various tasks.
In today’s era, all the task can be perform through online platform like online education (as this pandemic situation (COVID-19) we all are learning online), online banking and almost all task we can do online using computer and internet.
What is input device?
An input device is a part of the computer . It takes input from us (from different input device) and perform various tasks based on the input. So there are different kind of input devices
Input devices are

- Mouse
- Track ball

- Digital tablet
- Web camera
- Touch screen
- Light pen
- OMR & OCR
- Microphone
Keyboard
A Keyboard is an input device. That is used to type something.
There are three way to connect Keyboards 1.USB 2. PS/2 3. Wireless Generally keyboard has 104 keys, which includes Alphabet keys, numerical keys, function key and so on
Mouse
A mouse is an input device. It is also known as a pointing device. We can connect Mouse with three types: 1. PS/2, 2. USB and 3. wireless. Based on mechanical type it has two types: 1. Mechanical mouse 2. Optical mouse
Mouse has one or more buttons. Mouse is increase the work efficiency.
Track ball
A Track ball is an input device. It has movable ball. It is also used for pointing something.
Joystick
A Joystick is an input device. A joystick is a pointing input device. It has a lever and some buttons.
The lever can be moved in any direction. Generally, Joysticks are used for playing games.
Digital Tablet
A Digital Tablet is an input device. Digital Tablet used to drawing into computer.
There are main two pats of digital tablet.
1.Digital pad
2.Digital Pen
This is also used for eSign in passport or drawing of any picture and display on screen.
Scanner
A scanner is an input device. Scanner read the document and store on computer.
There are different type of scanner available in the market. Scanner can read number, text and images from the document.
Do you know?… We can scan our picture into computer through scanner?
Web Camera
A web camera is an input device. We are using web camera for video calling, to capture photo.
Do you know?… During lockdown in online lecture, we are using web camera to show our face to teacher.
Mobile and Laptop has inbuilt camera, we can also attached external web camera to the computer.
Microphone
A microphone is an input device.
We are using microphone for online video call, to communicate with other person.
This is also known as a Mic
We can speak through Mic and the other person can listen it through speaker.
So in this case, Mic is used as input device.
OMR & OCR
OMR means Optical Mark Reader
OMR used to read the mark on the paper, for example, in OMR answer sheet to check the answer we use OMR.
OCR means Optical Character Reader
OCR used to type on computer based on the scan by machine.
Mostly in Bank and insurance company it’s used to read the form data.
